Saxophonist Ron Brown returns with his new CD, "Restored".
Stellar Award nominated saxophonist Ron Brown returns with his new release, Restored, taking his gospel jazz ministry to another level. Restored is a reflection and acknowledgement of what God has done to restore his life. Brown begins with “Again I Say Rejoice”, then spreads the good news with a duet featuring his good friend Kirk Whalum called “The Gospel Truth”. Veteran songwriter/producer Jerry Peters teamed up with Brown to compose “If Not For You”, a reflection of God’s love and grace, sung passionately by Tim Kepler.
Ron speaks to your heart with his rendition of contemporary hit songs such as “I Need You Now”, “Brighter Day” and “Since Jesus Came”. The upbeat “If You Get To Know Him”, another of Brown’s original compositions, features the anointed gifts of guitarist Doc Powell, and Makeda on vocals, proclaiming “If you get to know Him, He will change your life”; a simple statement of encouragement and conviction. The final track, “Praise Is What I Do”, features Jon DeCuir on keyboards, and Vessels singing background vocals. Brown’s praise sweeps you into the presence of the Lord where the Holy Spirit is reaching out, so that all God’s children will have an opportunity to be “Restored”.

Urban
Jazz Network - Urban Dreams
The great jazz master Duke Ellington once said that "there are two kinds of music, good and bad," a simple truism recalled heartily by modern musicians who dare to blend a wide range of styles and influences in a time when radio formats would segregate them. The Duke's open-minded spirit must have made a resounding impact upon saxophonist Ron Brown, who played with the legend's Duke Ellington Orchestra at the start of his career in the late 70s.
All these years later, Brown - who launched his own smooth jazz career with the well received From My Eyes Only on Discovery Records - digs deep into the roots of all the genres he's ever played in to create the innovative and dynamic Urban Jazz Network an ongoing project, with new artists rotating around his sax and production in the way that Urban Knights evolved in recent years around Ramsey Lewis. Featuring some of the best loved artists and studio performers in R&B, Be Bop, Smooth Jazz, hip hop and gospel, the Urban Jazz Network is more than merely a funky, cool and adventurous melange of soul music.
